Hello everyone! It's time for me to meet a new character! Y'all, I was positive that this was the MCU movie in the whole franchise that I had actually seen before. But if I did see this way back in 2015, my brain completely erased all memory of it. So for that I am very grateful. This movie is NOT at the bottom of my MCU list, so please enjoy the reaction.

Please grab a copy of this movie on your end to watchalong with me. Here is the direct link to my watchalong. I watched Ant-Man through Disney+.

Thanks for watching! ❤️

As a heads up, the early access edit for Ant-Man may not be shared until Monday morning, a few hours before it goes live on the channel. I am visiting with family this weekend. They were supposed to come out last weekend and then didn't, so it's this weekend now but it's ME going to THEM instead. 🤣 So adding 5 hours of driving time takes away from work time.

I've never actually watched this movie till now. The effects were nice, fun movie. We are getting close to my favorite MCU movie Dr Strange. Captain America Winter Soldier makes a close second though.

Love the intro seeing S.H.I.E.L.D. headquarters being built and the appearance of an older Peggy Carter and Howard Stark. The de-aging of Michael Douglas looked great as well a character I'd love to see in his younger days. Hank Pym the original Antman first appeared in Tales to Astonish #27 1961 but didn't appear as Antman until Tales to Astonish #35 1962 over a year later. The Marvel Earth-616 comic's usually took place when the comic's were released so these early stories featuring Hank all took place in the 1960s with the Avengers themselves being founded in 1963 with Hank Pym and Janet van Dyne two of the founding members of the Avengers. Hank Pym is one of the few MCU hero's who has been active since the 1960s around the Cold War era so he's kind of closer to his Earth-616 counterpart in that he became Ant Man in this period of time rather than his origin story being modernized like we see with Tony Stark, Bruce Banner, Spider-Man etc. I guess it's a good way of introducing characters and explaining why we haven't seen them up until now. Scott Lang is the 2nd Ant Man he was introduced a decade later in Avengers #181 1978 as Scott and the Marvel Premiere #47 1979 as Ant Man. The reason why Scott was chosen to be the Ant Man of the MCU was because of the films writer Edgar Wright, who only ever wanted to make a Scott Lang movie. He grew up reading Scott Lang era Ant-man comics, and idolised him far more than Henry Pym. They pretty much got Lang's story spot on from the comic's he turned his talents to burglary. Apprehended, he served his prison sentence and was paroled for good behaviour. I personally would've loved to see a Hawk Pym movie or TV show set in the 1960s to 1980s showing us a more golden age Marvel setting alongside other hero's of these decades. Those cold war era videos of Hank as Antman looked so cool and I think Marvel really needs some more period movies like The First Avenger. Cannot wait for Civil War next based on a really cool comic. Can't go wrong with a Captain America movie as well so that's going to be exciting. Overall I really enjoyed this movie felt like a fun little ride through something we've never seen before in a Marvel film. Loved the cinematography as well and every single shot of when Antman was small they nailed the scale, depth of field, dust everything just looked really good.

I was so glad you were predisposed to liking this one. It grew on me right from the start, with the excellent casting and all the heart and humor. And I can't help getting pumped for your next journey, given your previous enjoyment of Cap's movies. Great summary review, as always.

🐜 I didn't know a whole lot about Ant-Man before watching the movie when it came out. So wasn't 100% sure if I was going to like it. I was pleasantly surprised. Just like you Kaiielle. I never thought I would care about ants in a movie. I totally shed a tear for Ant-thony 😪 The movie was funny and action packed. I really loved the story and all the characters too. I can't wait for you to watch the next MCU movie.

Completely enjoyed your reaction. This is officially the first time I watched you more than the film. Even though you consider it middling you thoroughly enjoyed the small scale scenes and I completely enjoyed seeing you enjoy them. I’m ready to join you in Phase 3.
