I know they wanted to show familiar stuff in the show, but they also wanted to show stuff that you haven't seen in the games and that tri-connected vault system was that. I knew there were over 100 vaults, so the idea that they may have something like that one 3 of them didn't seem so odd to me. Especially when you find out/know how different the vaults can be with their purposes. None of the vaults shown here are shown in the games, for that reason. To show everyone something new.
