509: The song in the opening montage was an alternate version of the song that played in 407 with the same split screen set up. Mike tells him that fear isn’t a good motivator and in BB Gus says it right back to him. (Which May be true but Walt was perpetually paranoid) The use of foreshadowing with both Kim and Lalo looking through bullet holes freaked people out when this aired! Kim took the bottle topper from the first scam she pulled with Jimmy if you were wondering what that was. How about Lalo and those amazing knees of his huh? First he falls through the ceiling and now this? I gotta say, I would love to get advice from Mike for just about anything but how to handle trauma. Not a great track record there buddy! 510: just gonna talk a bit about the characters for this one. Eladio: He is consistently tacky but he actually likes the job. I doubt many people who are high up would actually want that spot, very high profile you know? Nacho: Not a whole lot I can say that Michael Mando didn’t say with his face. So tense and there is a heap of tragedy in his eyes. Lalo: I think I’ve said this before but he really seems like a guy who just likes to do his work and hang out. He would never want to be the top guy because he wouldn’t have as much flexibility. He wouldn’t be able to travel much and he probably feels like he would lose his edge. He is attached to his family though so he seemed a bit upset. Howard: He definitely doesn’t deserve any of this but I think it’s important to remember that Kim did warn him. She told him to stay away from Jimmy and he just couldn’t do it. He really does have a white knight complex which isn’t always the worst thing but it really backfired here. Gus/Mike: Kind of opposite sides of the same coin here. They both know what has to be done but clearly have different ideas. Mike keeps on being a mentor figure for the tragic ones. Kim: I don’t think this is so much Kim changing as certain behaviors are bubbling back up. She has never liked being “saved” and if it’s someone she doesn’t like doing it she’s not gonna be nice about that. People see her as a sweet lady but she doesn’t have that background at all. Add the crazy situation she just went through and I figure she also kind of wants to ride that wave of adrenaline. Add to that how the money would help her with all those cases. (It really is sad how many people are just stuck in jail because they can’t afford a lawyer and various other circumstances) Jimmy: The way he is trying to pull back says it all. Now that Kim has been put in danger he is telling it like it is. Of course he is still smitten with her though. Seems like a dangerous combo there. Next season: no spoilers. I will say that the technical brilliance continues and it may get emotional at times.
