Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 9, 2024) (Patreon)

Hello there and welcome to a (delayed) weekly update for what's happening at Digital Foundry this week. Yeah, sorry this one is a little late - it was a hard weekend's work getting the RX 7900 GRE review ready. A bit of a difficult choice this: take the weekend off having completed the Eurogamer text review, or work the weekend to get the video done. I've noted from view counts recently that if you're late with a GPU review, traffic is savagely cut back - and ultimately, I was enthused enough with the product that I wanted to tell the story.
Any way, let's crack on with the weekly updates.
* John is taking a breather this week, but carried out a developer interview with the creators of Kingmakers (!) before he left. Expect to see that next week. If you haven't seen the trailer... well, you really should check it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OvezgDni8z4
* Alex has a couple of projects on, but it's unsure we'll see them this week. One of them concerns a fascinating update to an existing PC game that will raise some eyebrows, Roger Moore-style. He's also interesting in doing something meaningful on RTX Remix.
* RIch (ie me) is restarting handheld coverage. I'm dreadfully late on this and owe reviews to a number of suppliers - the OneXplayer Pro, Lenovo Legion Go, AyaNeo Kun and Slide all need reviews. Today I'm restarting the benchmarking process by banking fresh ROG Ally and Steam Deck OLED results. That's after setting up the week for DF Clips!
* Tom has just finished up his PlayStation Cloud vs xCloud analysis. This one is interesting because obviously the PlayStation streaming is new to us, but it turns out that we've not yet put the legwork into looking at xCloud hosted on Series X silicon - and the results there will prove fascinating, trust me. Right now, based on popular requests, he'll be taking a quick look at Pentiment across platforms.
* Oliver is working on our main Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth review. Our prior breakdown was limited to some excessive restrictions on content and capture, but two days from now, we should have the review we wish we could have posted last week! Beyond that, he's likely returning to his Steam Deck/ROG Ally ray tracing piece.
On another note, we're happy to announce that we'll be putting together our first episode of DF Indirect this week! So, here's the deal. We love Supporter Q+A every week, and the truth is that owing to the already long duration of DF Direct Weekly, we typically only answer around five questions when we get around 10 times that in the call to questions. Then there are questions which we'd love to answer but require research to answer, by which time another call to questions has gone out! Chances are we'll be fine with the amassed questions we have, but we may put out another call if needed. The plan is for future episode filming to be streamed live to supporters, if we can pull that off.
In the meantime, do let us know of any topics you'd like covered and of course, have a great week!
