Well, here we are then - the last DF Direct Weekly of 2023! Don't worry though, there's still more Direct goodness coming, including John and Alex's lamentations on the worst PC ports of the year, along with our mammoth 'best graphics of the year' discussion - which is on early access now to premium/retro tier supporters.

So, what's about on with Weekly #143 then? We're unlikely to delve into the specifics of the Insomniac leak, just as we didn't really cover the GTA 6 leak nor the Capcom ransomware attack. We are likely to discuss the final demise of Nvidia's GTX line, and the rumoured 40-series 70 line-up and perhaps even the 'poor on paper' RTX 3050 6GB. If we have the time we'll share some thoughts on the God of War DLC and we'll see about testing HDR Remote Play on Steam Deck OLED!

But here we are in the final paragraph, where we beseech you - the beautiful Digital Foundry Supporter - for any news topics or suggestions you have for Direct #content. And of course, we're here to answer any and all questions (competence and time permitting). Have at it one last time for 2023!

Hi team. Great job on the Best Graphics of the Year video! Watching the segments on Cyberpunk 2077 and Alan Wake 2 got me thinking, will the next gen consoles support path tracing? I know the PS 6 and Xbox Whatever are a few years off, but seeing as both companies have such a strong relationship with AMD, I can see their graphics chip being in the next consoles. Nvidia is so far ahead in ray-tracing and upscaling, but I worry that Sony and Microsoft will favour their partnership with AMD over the technical superiority of an Nvidia solution and hamstring their new consoles right out of the gate. Any thoughts? Great job and looking forward to new DF content in 2024.

Hi chaps. I read an article this morning titled, "3 reasons why ray tracing will remain pointless in 2024". I had to laugh and immediately thought of the DF team, as through your videos and analysis, you have always explained why pushing the boundaries of graphics is a good thing, even if it's only the high end hardware that can manage it right now. But in the spirit of this rather clickbait-y titled article. Are there any graphical settings you believe to be 'pointless'? A merry Christmas and happy new year to you all. Lee
