Coming This Week To Digital Foundry (Week 46 2023) (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone, hope you're all doing well! Based on our discussions in the Digital Foundry #content meeting this morning, the relentless pace continues as we continue to work our way through a massive backlog of games - plus there's some really interesting hardware coming our way too, so let's get to it.
* Rich (ie me) will be on point for the PlayStation Portal review, where image quality and latency testing will take point... and maybe we should add in some cheeky Wii U GamePad comparisons? I also have the Atari 2600+ retro console, which was my first console and also the last console I owned as a player as opposed to being a journalist, so I might take a look at that. And yeah... AyaNeo Kun? Still got it, just need to find time to review it. Oh... and I have a PS5 'Slim' heading across from Canada. Busy!
* John is handling the Digital Foundry review of Super Mario RPG, and he's also going to be embarking on the Forza Motorsport vs Gran Turismo 7 head to head. Sandwiched between these projects, he fancies a bit of a palate cleanser in the form of the Daytona USA 2 port found within the latest Like a Dragon game.
* Alex is rounding off his analysis of the upcoming Starfield patch for PC, which details its DLSS support and some extraordinary optimisations. After that, he's going to be taking a look at the console ports of the excellent Teardown - a PC game near to his heart.
* Oliver is also on the final furlong of his RoboCop: Rogue City console analysis, and after that, he has the strange compulsion to check out the Nintendo Switch version of Hogwarts Legacy.
* Tom has the task of looking at the new Modern Warfare 3 game on the current-gen consoles.
December will be 'fun' as effectively we need to complete 30 days of work in 20, so my collaboration with Illusion on PS4 games unlocked to run at 60fps will happen then, plus I will be pitting a budget spec PC (12100F/RX 6600) up against the PlayStation 5. Graphics of the Year is a lock, plus we're contemplating a 'worst PC ports of the year' thing in an attempt to keep up the pressure there. Games of the year round-ups are inevitable but if you have any other ideas, do let us know. In the meantime, have a great week!
