Content

Hello there and welcome to your update on what's happening here at Digital Foundry this week. As mentioned last week, the amount of releases is starting to pile up so please be patient if we can't cover the game you'd like us to cover, or deliver the #content in the time scale you might be expecting. We're a small team and we don't like to rush the work.

This is what each team member will be contributing this week!

* Rich (ie me) is polishing up the 7800 XT video review and will be moving on to a couple of projects. The order is going in for the RTX 2050 laptop we need to give some idea of what an ultra-low power Ampere GPU can do, vis a vis Switch 2 expectations.

* John is heading out on his trip to Japan today, but he's left with us his first impressions on Forza Motorsport. If you're a premium or retro supporter, you would have had access to this #content since Friday. It's a good one!

* Tom is back from vacation. He starts work on all the console versions of Mortal Kombat 1 today. We're assessing the PC version for coverage too. Expect the console coverage by the weekend.

* Alex is in charge of our Cyberpunk 2077 Phantom Liberty coverage. This includes two videos right now - a look at DLSS 3.5 and other technical improvements made to the PC version of the game. We're focusing on 2.0 content here and will take a view on whether a focus on Phantom Libery content is required. This will allow us to get the PC content out broadly alongside the 2.0 update going live. The embargo structure on video is a bit odd. In addition to that, we have a roundtable with Nvidia, CDPR and others focusing on DLSS and ray reconstruction coming up.

* Oliver has another busy week on the cards. He's working on the console versions of Phantom Liberty with our content available on or around the launch, so most likely next week. The 2.0 versions of the existing CP2077 will be available before then, but we seem to looking at content and art revisions without major changes to the technology, so we're rolling everything into one video covering both 2.0 and Phantom Liberty. He's also nearing completion on his 'Fixed on Switch' video, which revisits some subpar Switch titles that have been noticeably improved!

As usual, please let us know about any ideas, topics or games you think we should be covering. Once the RTX 2050 laptop has arrived, I'll be posting an update on first impressions and putting out a call for testing ideas.

I'm also working with known console modder Illusion in delivering a look at PS4 fps unlocks running on PlayStation 5. There's a LOT to this. Many different games. Illusion has also delivered unlocks to titles that I feel could actually be challenging for the PS5... the incredibly CPU-limited Just Cause 3, for example? Oh, and the obvious ones of course, including DriveClub.

In the meantime, I hope you have a great week!

It would be interesting to “unlock” Dreams, where you can dynamically give it more GPU load based on the scene you are interactively building, and it’s user feedback about frame times. Same goes for LittleBigPlanet 3, to a large degree.

I’m looking forward to the 2050 coverage and if it’s possible to get some more reasonable expectations in regards to Nintendos new hardware.
