Coming This Week To Digital Foundry (Week 32, 2023) (Patreon)
Content
Hi everyone, it's Monday, there's no public holiday and therefore this common combination of early week conditions means that - yes - there was a #content meeting and per my pledge to you, that means there's also a #content update post. We had a full house present, meaning myself, Will Judd, Tom Morgan, Oliver Mackenzie, John Linneman and freshly returned from a week off, Alex Battaglia. So what's the 'shizzle' this week?
* John is on the finishing stretches of a retrospective on The Order: 1886 for PlayStation 4, a promising beginning to a franchise that never went anywhere. This is a fascinating game with exceptional image quality and a whole host of positive attributes that still sees it well-regarded today. John will be examining what made this game so interesting, plus there are one or two surprises we have planned for you with this one. Beyond that? Embargoed content.
* Alex is - not surprisingly - taking a look at Baldur's Gate 3 now he's back from vacation. First impressions are looking good on this one, but do let us know if you have requests for things you'd like him to look at!
* Tom is going to be working on the Xbox port of Stray, but there are one or two other more off-beat projects we're considering. More on that soon.
* Rich (ie me) really is hoping to get that 7840U handhelds piece done soon. It's been a bit of a trial to be honest, but hopefully the hard work is done now. Steam Deck, Ryzen 6800U, Z1 Extreme, Ryzen 7840U in two flavours. Should be a good one.
* Oliver is finishing off his look at the PlayStation version of High on Life, then moves onto the inevitable 'Too Big' for Steam Deck for Baldur's Gate 3. However, in a shock twist, he's bought a ROG Ally, loves it, and is looking to incorporate Ally coverage into our handheld videos.
* Will continues his sterling work on Eurogamer, with a budget CPU outlook on the cards featuring the Core i3 12100F and the i3 13400F. The 12100F in particular intrigues me as it's a quad-core chip but apparently outperforms the Ryzen 5 3600 handily - amazing for a sub $100 CPU.
Do let us know if you've got any further tips for new projects or questions about the slate, but in the meantime, have a great week!
