John sometimes talks about gaming with his son. As a fellow parent and retro game enthusiast, I’d like to ask if grabs old games to play by himself, and if you have any tips on how to fire my little one’s love for some 90s goodness.

For John: what is your take on the Sea of Stars announcement? It looked like some of the most incredible pixel work I've seen in a long time and I'm curious if anything in particular about its design stood out to you.

Hello Gents, With DLSS3 looking good so far and "fixing" games like Witcher 3 due to excessive cpu requirements, how do you think it would work on something like Crysis remastered with max settings/extreme mode which I remember having very poor performance also due to poor cpu optimisation. Is DLSS3 hard to implement and do you see many 2017-2022 games getting it implemented? I imagine something like a 4060 could do amazing things to games like control from a few years ago using dlss 3.

Hi DF crew! For any of you: I was wondering if this Prime remastered restates that most Switch games are too ambitious for what the console can handle, smart LOD system and having the CPU usage under control could lead to smooth games. My expectations for a new Metroid Prime game looking good on Switch were too low until recently. How far could the AI and environment interaction be pushed before starting to make the Switch's CPU cry leading to a 30fps target?

With silicon prices ever increasing, and leading to console makers even increasing their prices, do you think we may see a shift away from architectures based on standard PC hardware and move back to silicon-efficient “gaming specific” architectures? Akin to the architectures of PS2 and PS3 that were difficult to code for, but punched above their weight class.

HI DF Why do traversal stutters happen? I remember Days Gone, and Jedi Fallen Order had the same issue when playing on consoles. Do you think that having L3 cache or memory could alleviate or eliminate traversal stutters or maybe more CPU parallelization could help?

Capcom recently announced that they will be exclusively using 144hz monitors for their Capcom Cup tournament series. As Street Fighter is hard-locked at 60fps, is there any real advantage to playing these games on a high refresh rate monitor? Some people have argued that it reduces input latency, but I just can't wrap my head around the math. At the end of the day, the game is running at 60. Thanks

Is it just me, or is the Octopath Traveler 2 demo DX11 after all? The system requirements said DX12, so that was giving me a really big scare.

Hey guys, with so many games to cover at the moment I know you may not get to this one, but I was wondering if you had any initial thoughts about the Metroid Prime remaster?

Simplex

It happens because the game has to quickly offload and load loads of data. You'd think that with ssds and nvmes it would disappear but apparently not.

Simplex

I'd be really surprised if they did not cover Metroid Prime remake.

Hello DF Crew! This question is for Alex. Recent games like Dead Space (R), Hogwarts Legacy and Forspoken, seem to be requiring much more VRAM. Cards like the 3080 and even 3080ti seem to struggle at 4k with VRAM here. Will this be a trend?

Why does no game support a 50Hz mode when most, if not all, TVs support it?

Hello Ricardo, Juan and Alejo (and Audio!). I love your PC coverage, but I always think that it would be great if there were optimized settings for low-end hardware as well. Looking at the Steam Hardware survey for January, I see that out of the top 16 results 50% are using a 1660 Ti or worse (and those 8 alone account for 26% of the list, while the top two spots are for the GTX 1650 and 1060 respectively). I was wondering if, outside of recommended settings for high-end (RTX 4090 + i9 13900k) and mid-end (2060 Super + Ryzen 3600g) you could also cover low-end as well? (Maybe 1650 + and keep the Ryzen 5 3600?). At least that's low end is in a country like mine (Argentina) and probably the rest of South America, where RTX 2060 Super is around $450 USD and monthly income is around $400 USD or worse. Sorry for the long question but I thought it was interesting to hear your take on it. Much love!

Hi John, is there any chance we might see an Atari Lynx retrospective, similar to your Sega 32x series? I believe there are only about 70ish games for the system worldwide, so reviewing them all seems doable. Would love to hear your thoughts on the often-forgot handheld system! Keep up the great work DF team!

Given the state of pc ports, would you at this point on average recommend gaming on console vs pc when it comes to new releases?

Happy Friday Gents! Will you be covering the newly released Hogwarts Legacy at all? I understand there's a lot of controversy regarding it but always look forward to your analysiseses 😂and reviews.

Hi DF! I became a patron to ask this question, but if it isn't pulled that's okay. I was playing Skyward Sword and swung a little too wide, knocked over my drink, and it went straight onto the top of my computer through the top fan vent and fried the motherboard. I was in shock and didn't unplug it fast enough. Silver lining: I have a pretty well paying engineering consultant job and can go in for a much nicer system than I had. I plan on getting an RTX 4090, what is at least one other item you would recommend to best future proof (as much as possible) for my new build? Regards, Eric Crone

What other classic consoles should be brought to Nintendo Switch Online? Game & Watch? DS?

Watershed

Do you guys think the raytracing update for elden ring is still coming? could it possibly take advantage of frame generation if the 60fps cap is lifted alongside the update?

TheCollector

Alex, have you looked at Returnal on PC? The game has an amazing benchmark, gives analytical insight that is really phenomenal!

Really curious about Hogwarts - visually I am very impressed with the castle and level of detail and work that went into it, can’t wait for the DF video… hopefully soon?
