Hi everyone, it's Rich here. The benchmarks are in for the Ayaneo Air, its more powerful Pro counterpart, and with a dash of Steam Deck added in for good measure.

I tested five titles at 8W, 12W and 15W TDPs on both the cutback Ryzen 5 offering and the 'full fat' Ryzen 7 (with two extra cores and two extra CUs). Seems to me that the only meaningful performance bump from the more capable chip comes when it has the extra power, otherwise the increase is relatively small. Steam Deck proves to be sufficiently monstrous by comparison - if RDNA 2 is this much of a bump over Vega, RDNA 3 should be pretty immense.

The 8W benches aren't great - as you might imagine - so I didn't include them in this run. More testing to do before I start scripting and editing but this has been an interesting exercise thus far.

Ayaneo Air vs Air Pro vs Steam Deck Benchmarks

Raw data showing how the three handhelds compare. The Aya products can also be run at 8W but as the results are so tremendously slow (typically 15-20fps), they have been omitted here. Aya results taken from Windows 11, while the Steam Deck results are from Windows 10 - and from an older AMD driver, no less. Background videos are 1080p 'hero' assets showing the games at the selected settings - albeit at higher resolution and at 60fps. 00:00:00 Control 00:01:54 Death Stranding 00:03:14 Forza Horizon 5 00:04:46 Shadow of the Tomb Raider 00:07:10 Marvel's Spider-Man Remastered
