Content

The week has begun, the Digital Foundry #content meeting has been and gone and I'm happy to bring you the minutes of the discussion. In attendance: Rich, John, Alex, Oliver, Tom and Will (Audi is currently in a different time zone!). So here's the broad outline of what's cooking:

* Rich (ie me) has finally finished the From Software 30fps story, as you can tell from the header image. That will run later in the week with early access happening a lot sooner. After this? Some long delayed research work on image quality analysis and looking into overclocking PlayStation 3's RSX!

* John is planning a vacation in July but is already working on content that will run while he is away. The PS3 1080p Dream video will be split into three or four parts that will run across the month in the Sunday slot, while some embargoed content will also be prepared in advance. This week? Expect coverage on the new Fire Emblem Warriors release for Switch.

* Alex continues to work on his #StutterStruggle video, but for this week, expect a closer look at the PC Resident Evil upgrades.

* Audi has a big interview set up that he and John will hopefully tape this week, and they will also be recording a few retro videos as they are going on an upcoming trip.

* Tom is working on coverage of the Resident Evil 7 upgrades for Xbox Series and PlayStation 5 consoles, while also returning to the long-awaited Rebellion/Switch interview.  F1 2022 looms in the horizon.

* Oliver  is tackling the upgrades for Resident Evil 2 Remake and Resident Evil 3 Remake, before moving onto Wreckfest in content that'll focus on the new Switch release but also cover the current-gen console releases we've failed to talk about in the past! The docked Steam Deck experience is still on the cards!

* Will is continuing to help out on our editorial commitments to Eurogamer and is also producing in-depth loading time comparisons on various Micro SDs cards for Steam Deck.

So that's where we're at for now. As usual, comments and feedback are welcome. The enhanced PlayStation Plus arrives in Europe and the UK this week so we may take a look at that or more likely save it for DF Direct Weekly. We will - of course - pivot if necessary. Have a great week!

Is someone taking a look at the quarry?

I've had bad frame pacing all my life... Then I had a conversation with Alex and he gave me some great advice. Now life is better and best of all I'm ray traced thanks to an email from John & Oliver a few weeks later. Rich just told me to buy a better GPU then walked away laughing loudly while Audi told me to get away from Rich or he'd "edit" me out, Whatever that means... Sounded evil though.

Am I wrong, or did you tease (in one of the past ‚coming next week‘) that Oliver would take a look at the updated AC Origins & Odyssey?

Redout 2 might be an interesting look? Had some interesting ports last time around. Curious how and if they've improved things with the sequel.

If there is time for it, a quick look at Forza Horizon 5's TAA update (which releases when my comment is 12 hours old) compared to the previous/existing MSAA+FXAA method woud be nice. Apparently the TAA implementation is well thought-through according to the blog post. Another quick fun video that might be popular/get a good amount of views would be today's Fall Guys relaunch on Switch.

Are we to understand that VRR will be required to watch this upcoming episode?

I'm looking forward to Will's opinion of micro SD cards for steam deck. I have a small steam library, not a natural gaming zone for me, but I've taken to the steam deck like a fish to water. Desperately need a micro SD card!
