Hi DF with all the games that you guys have reviewed all these years, which post-processing effect is the one that makes a great impact in a game, or which is your favorite?

A question for the team, Hi gents, what's your thoughts on game audio in current games and in general? I don't think audio is being utilised anywhere near to the level it should be and i'd like to know why that is. What is the difference of having 360 spacial audio/atmos/dts-x on a 4k blu ray vs a modern game, is it easier or harder to implement? I want to go back to what Alex said about RT GI in Metro Exodus to where the devs were able to "flick a switch" and have alot of the manual lighting done for them, is there not something similar to some degree devs can do with getting sound to utilise 7.1.4 channels and approximate how everything sould sound even if they didn't want to or weren't able to do it properly? I just bought a 360 spacial audio/atmos system and i feel it wont ever be utilised on My gaming PC or ps5 (Possibly when Sony add the 3d audio update for speaker systems) and may only be for mostly first party games, but i'd like to know what you guys think as i know John is in a similar situation with an atmos setup.

Hi All, I would like to ask about the state of audio middleware and UE5. Are we getting to the stage with increased development cost and streamlined proprietary engine options is audio middleware in general becoming less necessary? What exactly is UE5 Metasounds and are there substantial new or exciting developments in UE5s audio offering? For example could UE5 native audio replace popular audio middleware?

Hello, DF crew! Since the emulation on the new PS+ tiers leaves a lot to be desired (not to mention PS3 remaining a streaming-only affair), it seems that Xbox still has the upper hand regarding backwards compatibility. Unfortunately, Microsoft's BC program ended in late 2021, so a lot of titles have been left behind due to hurdles such as licensing issues. In theory, though, would it ever be feasible for MS to implement all-in-one/"jack-of-all-trades" emulators for the original Xbox and 360 to cover the rest of their respective libraries? (Ideally, there would be a warning prompt before booting an unsupported/untested game along the lines of "This title is not officially supported through the Xbox Backwards Compatibility Program, so you may experience issues with emulation" to temper expectations.) I'm just disappointed that there's no good way to officially access the original GTA Trilogy on modern consoles. More importantly, it saddens me that Rich may very well never be able to re-experience the genre-defining 2009 FPS classic, Rouge Warrior, with the bells and whistles that BC provides on Xbox Series X|S (FPS/resolution boost, Auto-HDR, etc.). (EDIT: Now that I think about it, having to download BC games from the Xbox servers rather than using the data from the actual discs further complicates matters, but let's assume that hurdle was somehow cleared in this scenario.)

Any thoughts on breathless tech site stories saying RTX cards are "back to MSRP"? I'm not seeing many (or any) cases where you can actually buy the original 10GB 3080 card for $699. And in some cases, I think MSRPs have been changed.

Hey DF With Starfield and Redfall both being pushed back to 2023 do you think there is a chance that the delay was due to a shortage of Xbox Series S and X consoles? Microsoft is having a hard enough time keeping up with demand for both systems, so from their perspective it would make a lot of sense to wait another 6 months to allow more units to hit the market to maximize potential sales for both games. On top of that it would ensure they have some heavy hitters for their Q1&2 release slate as well as giving Bethesda and Arkane some much needed time to polish their games before release. Pure speculation on my part, could be totally wrong on this. What do you guys think?

Retro question: why do most US, Canadian and Euro Genesis / Mega Drive games just sound so much worse musically than their Japanese counterparts? Western devs did great things with the SNES sound chip, but why did they stick to the Yamaha's marimba and awful fake guitar on Mega Drive?

Horizon Forbbiden West got a visual fix for performance mode, any chance of covering it?

I am currently in the mega drive 2 stream. Why do Sega/M2 love Fantasy Zone so much? It feels like it's been rereleased 582 times.

With the announcement that a 40 fps mode is coming to Horizon Forbidden West, do you believe there is now a real chance that this will become a staple for Sony’s first party games?

Anonymous

Also, with there now being a history of 40 fps modes being added across game engines, would you consider waiting the play GOW 2 until that mode is patched in, assuming the game does not launch with 40 fps support. It would seem games getting significant patches months after launch reduces the incentive to play day one.
