Formerly an Xbox console exclusive, The Ascent is finally available for all PlayStation 4/PlayStation 54 consoles. Oliver Mackenzie tests all versions, stacking them up against the Xbox experience. The Ascent might now be a year old - but the port to PlayStation is excellent and the game itself is well worth checking out. Apologies for being a little late on this one.

The PS4 and Pro builds shipped incomplete and we were waiting for the patches to drop. Remarkably, at launch, PS4 Pro ran unlocked at 900p! Thankfully now, it's 1440p30.

Couldn't it also be that the PS4 versions maybe not (only) contain more duplicated textures, but maybe textures that aren't heavily compressed? So, that at load time, not much has to be decompressed, thus resulting in shorter load-times....

I noticed there wasn't any mention of DualSense use? Does the title make any use of the controller haptics on PS5?

I guess RT is not active on any of the console versions?
