Hi everyone, Rich here. So a while back, we did a test video captured and encoded at 120fps - a 1080p120 capture of Mad Max via FPS Boost, upscaled to 4K. Today, our research goes one step further with an actual video edited at 4K120 - and it's a good one: using Ratchet's 50% slow motion mode, edited with the footage running at 2x speed, we can show you how the Performance RT mode would look running at 120fps - and it's super smooth and so, so cool.

The download link is below, but do bear in mind that the YouTube preview will only be 60fps - until YT decides to upgrade its player. It's the downloads you'll need for the (dare I say it) FULL FAT EXPERIENCE. 2160p, 1440p, 1080p versions are available. Go for 2160p if you have an HDMI 2.1 screen or high refresh rate monitor attached to a PC, but choose 1440p if you have an HDMI 2.0 display or something like an iPad Pro or 120Hz smartphone. 1080p120? It's the most compatible choice but obviously you trade resolution. If in doubt, revisit the Patreon post with crowd-sourced compatibility tests: https://www.patreon.com/posts/51351099

As for the actual Ratchet 120fps download link, here you go: http://digitalfoundry.net/2021-06-12-patreon-exclusive-ratchet-and-clank-rift-apart-at-120fps

I'm going to have to go over to my friend's house who has a 120Hz display to watch this but it will be worth it!

Getting to watch this at 4k 120 on the LG CX was a real treat. Thanks so much for taking the time to make these types of videos ♥️

wow, this is glorious.

Didn't they just patch the game to run naturally at 120 fps in performance and performance RT mode? I think the HDTV Test guy just confirmed it last night.

What have you done Rich....Now 60fps seems sluggish. Lol Its simply Delicious!!!

No, the video output of the PS5 is set to 120Hz but the game still runs at 60. The idea here is pretty straightforward: if you're just a little late with your frame rendering do wait 16ms or 8ms for your next screen refresh?

I don't have a 120hz TV so I find it pretty crazy that the only device I have that can display this properly is my phone!

It looks awesome! Thanks for the effort to put this video together!
