Hey everyone, Rich here with a bonus extra for our Patreon supporters! Last Thursday, Rockstar released the first gameplay trailer for its phenomenal-looking Red Dead Redemption 2, with footage captured at source from PlayStation 4 Pro hardware - making this our first look at the game running on one of the enhanced consoles.

Long-time Patreon supporters will know that Rockstar has supplied us with pristine quality versions of all of its RDR2 assets so far and I'm delighted to share the gameplay trailer source file with you today.

Obviously, the asset can do the talking on a game like this, but the download comes in at around three gigs with a 68mbps bitrate at 3840x2160. That's an immensely lavish amount of bandwidth for an h.264 4K video and surely the best way to view the game so far, short of seeing it running on a console.

We'll be doing a full analysis video next week, but in the meantime, enjoy the video. As always with our downloads for Patreon supporters, you can grab the file here: https://www.digitalfoundry.net/browse/patreon-exclusive

Downloaded this one and it says there is no video codec. Could I be using a bad player?

Same here, can't play it on Samsung KS7000(EU), other videos (CP 2077 and BO4 PS4Pro analysis with HEVC) work just fine, please advise.

I couldn’t play it on my Samsung 6 series TV, PS4 Pro or Xbox one x, I tried VLC and media player on the x. Doesn’t seem to support any h264 over 60mbps. Ended up converting it to a smaller HEVC file with handbrake to make it play. Worked on my PC though with VLC, although I didn’t fancy connecting it to my 4K tv since it was further away.
