Hey everyone, John here this time with a new episode of DF Retro!

For this one, we thought it would be fun to look at the Sega Nomad through a modern lens by comparing it to the Switch. The Nomad is a neat little device that offered portable play, TV play as a console and support for multiple players on a single device.

There are also some comparisons with other stand-alone Genesis consoles and more! Plus, a bonus look at the PSP Go.

Be sure to let us know what you think! This was a fun one.

I still have my Nomad sitting here - bought it back in 1996 or so when they were being cleared out. Cool system but never ended up using it much as the screen wasn't all that great and the horrendous battery life. In the day before cheap rechargeable batteries - and cheap batteries in general, this thing was expensive to operate.

Really love the video quality. Would have prob bought a Nomad if I wasn't a poor college student in 1995. Also, is it expensive to host videos on your site. Seems like an eventual cool alternative to Youtube.

I sold my Nomad as part of a bunch of stuff to get a Switch last January but that was a reliable piece of hardware that I got for $30 from Toys R Us in 1997 including the 3-hour battery pack that worked to this day.

I might be posting a little late for you to see this but with Okami being re rereleased on a variety of platforms it seems like a really good subject for a DF retro. PS2, Wii, PS3, PS4/Switch... what versions are good, bad, odd? Not just graphics but control options as well.
