Coming This Week to Digital Foundry (Week 25, 2024) (Patreon)
Content
Hi there everyone, it's Rich here with your regular scheduled update on everything that's happening this week in Digital Foundry. The #content meeting occurred as per usual and I've got a bunch of information for you!
Rich (ie me) has a few projects on the go. First up, I've just received an engineering sample of the Asus ROG Ally X and will be putting together a first look video for it. Secondly, I'm expecting the arrival of the Surface Laptop with the Snapdragon X Elite processor soon! I'll be talking in the #pc channel on our Discord to see what kind of testing you'd like to see. I'm also keen on the budget PC project I talked about in the Direct, but I think that'll need to wait.
Tom is working on some more not-E3 follow-up coverage, taking a look at Metal Gear Solid Delta, stacked up against some of the existing versions of the game. We're also thinking about a re-evaluation of Elden Ring two-and-a-half years on from launch, with a look at the DLC.
Alex is currently working on a Retro Time Capsule video, looking at the original Gears of War - OG Xbox 360 version and the PC port. He's also going to be producing a video on Lossless Scaling, the app that doesn't just do scaling! It does frame generation as well and I understand it now inserts two generated frames - something I expect FSR 3 and DLSS 3 to deliver pretty soon.
John is on point to do our Luigi's Mansion 2 coverage and will also be taking a look at Riven on PC and Meta Quest! There are also plans to finally deliver the big behind-the-scenes video on Penny's Big Breakaway. John is also working on a classic PlayStation 1 vs Sega Saturn breakdown, stacking up classic head-to-heads viewed through the lens of modern DF methodology!
Oliver has a couple of iOS projects on the go - his emulation magnum opus is due this week, which will be followed by a look at the iPhone 15 Pro running Assassin's Creed Mirage.
Will is a bit under the weather at the moment, but continues to update his guide pages on Eurogamer and adapt some of our video work for Eurogamer.
As usual, we welcome any and all ideas for #content on the channel. Hardware, software, retro - you name it. There's a dearth of game releases which is fertile ground for us to do something a little different - for example, we are still keen on doing the Netflix vs Blu-ray vs UHD Blu-ray and have made some progress there.
In the meantime, have a great week!
