Hi everyone! Rich here with your regularly scheduled update on everything we're up to here at Digital Foundry - and after checking my notes, I'm not seeing anything under embargo so we can be weapons-free on what everyone is up to, so let's get straight to it.

  • John is taking point on our main Hellblade 2 review and we're really looking forward to sharing our critique of the game with you as there's so much to discuss here. Xbox Series X will be the lead platform for this, but we'll try to get in some Series S and PC coverage too. His System Shock remake console coverage goes live tomorrow but it'll be on early access for premium tiers soon after I finish this post.

  • Oliver will be following up on John's coverage with a much closer look at how it looks and runs on Series S and the changes required to get the game running... meanwhile, how does it run on Steam Deck and the Asus ROG Ally? We hope to have this one following up shortly after the main review.

  • Alex is working in combination with Mohammed Rayan on our in-depth Ghost of Tsushima PC coverage - optimised settings, PS5 comparisons, FSR 3 frame-gen not needing FSR 2 inputs... it's all going to be in there. Alex then moves on to Hellblade 2.

  • Tom has finished his Paper Mario Switch review. This will be going up on early access to premium tiers tomorrow and likely going live on Wednesday. Beyond that, he's primed Immortals of Aveum's console frame-gen update if and when that appears and he'll also be looking into F1 24 once review code arrives.

  • Rich (ie me) continues R&D work on our massive behind-the-scenes shake-up on GPU and CPU reviews. Big ambitions here but it'll be months of work to get this where we need to be. I'll also be helping out with support work where needed as we've had so little time with Hellblade specifically.

  • Will has a short week as he's off on vacation but he's helping out with Eurogamer adaptations of our Paper Mario and System Shock reviews, and he's also reviewing Homeworld 3 for Eurogamer too. All that on top of his merch and deals commitments!

We didn't receive Hellblade 2 until around midday Thursday last week, so the chances of us having coverage ready for launch day (ie tomorrow) are pretty much non-existent, but we're doing our best to get quality material to you as quickly as possible - right now we're targeting this Thursday.

If you have any tips or suggestions on further topics or games we should be taking a look at, do let us know in the invitingly empty box beneath these words, but for now, have a great week!

Hello Rich and DF Team! At the risk of sounding like a broken record, I don't know anyone else who can answer this question more reliably than you guys, so that is why I won't give up in my question being answered... I was hoping by the time a game like Metro Exodus and NVIDIA's open sourcing PhysX awhile ago (as well as continual extinction of dev support for it) that an AMD GPU user/based console would allow the use of its features by now, or am I wrong? Will we ever see a PhysX enhanced title run with those features turned ON for AMD someday (patched-in/updated to run)? Maybe a 'PhysX wrapper' (remember 3DFx Glide Wrappers for non-3DFx card owners?) As mentioned previously, the Batman Arkham series of games are a great example of a title that just seems lacking without the PhysX features, but complete with it (lookup 'Zogrim' on Youtube for best examples). I sincerely appreciate your input 😄👍

Hey all, saw the news about IGN and Eurogamer. I think I remember hearing Rich talk about how DF is an independent operation, so I'm hoping you guys are somewhat insulated from the typical negative fallout that often accompanies media consolidation. Wishing for the best!
