LYRICS:

When The Wolves Cry Out Gavin Dunne 2017

When the wolves cry out

Echoes in the old walls

Distant are the calls

On the winter’s wind

When the wolves cry out

Honour in the black bonds

Held in the beyond

As the lights they dim

Sometimes the last in line

Are the ones who last in time

Blood on the snow

Blood on the ashes

I’m not ashamed of what I am

Make it my own

Make it my castle

I’m not ashamed of what I am

Honour calls

Honour calls

Casting away the final mists of doubt...

When the wolves cry out

The smallest they will grow great

No more shall we wait

To rejoin the pack

They will heed my shout

So much I have lost here

Loves I held so dear

Taken by the black

Sometimes the lost bloodlines

Are the ones who last in time

Blood on the snow

Blood on the ashes

I’m not ashamed of what I am

Make it my own

Make it my castle

I’m not ashamed of what I am

Honour calls

Honour calls

Casting away the final mists of doubt...

When the wolves cry out

Go!!

Breaking of the cycle

Thrones are ever idle

Winter on the walls

Grudges to be unlearned

Reach out to the unburnt

Flame to cover all

Blood on the snow

Blood on the ashes

I’m not ashamed of what I am

Make it my own

Make it my castle

I’m not ashamed of what I am

Honour calls

Honour calls

Casting away the final mists of doubt...

When the wolves cry out

When the wolves cry out

Cry out

Breaking of the cycle

Thrones are ever idle

Winter on the walls

This is fantastic. I absolutely love it. I am not a musician and will not presume to tell one of the composers I admire most how to do his job, but I would like to offer a subjective remark about the effect of the demo versions on me: The second demo clearly comes across as a fuller, clearer sound, but at times I find myself longing for something from the first version and after some comparing I think it's mainly due to the different intensities of the drums. There are regions where I feel better about having the percussion more as a shadow under the surface, so to speak, and Jon's vocals or the strings dominating the impression. Those same regions also seem to feel better to me "smoother" with more of the rhythm supported by the strings rather than the impulses of the drum. The verse is probably the prime example, especially the first time, and another would be the region from about 2:27 to 2:55. I'm always wary of interfering while someone is creating, and please do tell if you work more comfortably without this sort of input, but that's what I have to offer and I hope may be of some value or at least no detriment. It could be liking due to familiarity. I must have listened to demo 1 several dozen times versus just a couple of dozen for demo 2 :) Anyway, the overall impression is both versions are already a treat to listen to. I'm looking forward to the release, and I know someone I think will be a true convert when he hears this. :)

Also, the "Jon Snow again" post is public. Which is fine, but I somewhat get the impression it was directed to the same people who had access to the first one. Just a friendly reminder.
