As the audio file says, this latest Arcana Check is going through a bit more back-and-forth than I anticipated. I figured I'd give you guys a sneak peek at what's gonna be in it (more or less) and a bit of a look at what kinds of things we are doing to these documents to get them ready.

I love the editor notes. It's like a mother and her 12-year-old child. Also: The bit she picked apart about illusions doing (or not doing) damage got me thinking: Why is it that there is no mechanism in D&D for psychological effects beyond 'fear' and 'charm', yet 'psychic damage' is a thing? I also feel like illusions should be able to hurt you; Illusions in D&D are basically a buzzword for 'holograms', and don't usually even incorporate sound. But good illusions incorporate multiple senses: Sounds; sights; smells, and even tastes (ever smelled something so good/bad you could taste it?). You could trap people into really believing what they are experiencing and yes, if the illusion involved being stabbed repeatedly with knives then I expect the body to believe it too; the brain would be convinced the body is in incredible pain, and it would take a highly trained brain (read: DC15 Intelligence saving throw) to resist it. I dunno. I just love the idea of an illusion-based warrior. Something akin to the Uchiha Clan in Naruto, or something.
