Re: De-aging va recasting. I think a perfect example of what Dave is talking about is X Men: First Class. Even though those recast actors got some films with worse scripts later in the franchise, I think the recasting worked really well and gave the franchise fresh life. There seems to be a place for all available tools and I’m exciting for de-aging to improve (and visual effects artists to be less overworked so they can fully utilize the tools that already exist), but I truly believe nothing can beat a real flesh and blood person and wish blockbuster franchises were doing more to give the next generation of actors a shot at an entry into the zeitgeist of iconic roles and give legacy actors an easier off-ramp from the same.
