Animals actually do make art. Look no further than the puffer fish that creates mandalas on the bottom of the ocean. Or the bower bird’s love palace. Both may have an express purpose, but doesn’t art? Also re the feedback on language, if I may to dearest Davindra who called it Language Policing: as people who hold things to certain standards, I think navigating defensiveness to learn or reflect is never a bad thing. Your words give us the audience access to your insights. The more words you give us, the more we can understand your insights. I know there is a layer of colonialism here that is fair to react to, but (to me) the call on YouTube to encourage a broader vocabulary is in the same vein as encouraging people to have a decent sound system or TV; all the better to appreciate the nuance and intention of a creator’s work. Love you guys. An incredible amount 😘

Wolfgang Petersen's magnum opus is actually Das Boot. If you haven't seen it, it's truly worth watching. Maybe start with the director's cut and if you need more, then the extended miniseries cut from the same film.

Alec

Holy… the directors cut is 3.5 hours. I love a challenge.
