Why are you trying to make me feel bad about my excitement about these announcements because I should want original content. Maybe I'm just a red neck yokel but I don't understand why original content is inherently more important than unoriginal ip.

Because the wisdom was that original IP is more something new than an existing IP just being sequelized. BUT nowadays with The Mandalorian, the MCU or even Amazon's LOTR existing IP seems to be more a starting ground for other types of storytelling. So we're left with "old world, but other types of stories" and "really new stories". And at some point even Disney would have to have new fertile ground. You can't just re-do animation classics.
