With regard to the discussion surrounding the polite picnic conversation between Davies and Mank, I just want to point out that Mank tried to make the point - multiple times as I recall - that Susan Alexander was not meant to be Marion Davies exactly. Not just to Marion herself, but to others that commented upon the Susan Alexander character in the script.
