Sinister Old Stable (20x20) (Patreon)

The old stable is located some hundred yards away from the Woodley farm. The wealthy Woodley family has had a secret for several generations and this old abandoned stable is central to it. The Woodley family almost died more than a hundred years ago when a rare genetic mutation started causing aberrations in developing fetuses, resulting in stillborn children and often in the death of the mother in childbirth. After going through every other possible solution, the Woodley family finally found a very unusual cure that had a great cost. 

The stable was built almost a hundred years ago over an old dried well that leads down to a natural cave with a strange stone altar. The altar is surrounded by four black pillars filled with alien engravings that are hard to distinguish from their surface as the matte black surface reflects no light. 

Whenever one of the Woodley family members wishes to have a child they need to make a ritual human sacrifice on the altar in springtime. The sacrificed bodies are then buried behind the stable and by late summer alien flowers start to sprout from the graves. When the flower buds are prepared into a sweet liquid, the extract will work as a cure for an inherited disease that will normally lead to a stillborn and deformed child. The cure works only for a developing fetus and it needs to be ingested during the first trimester of pregnancy.
