How are you doing my beautiful people?
I had a great week but a tougher weekend.
Workwise, I'm very please. As I mentioned last time, I laid out 9 pages and the cover for the next comic. When I'm on a roll, I can usually lay out around 3 pages a day. This kind of work takes a lot of my creative juice so I can't only do this full time. Not even for a week apparently :P As a change of pace, I also redesigned my two main characters for this issue as well a completely unrelated pic for you guys ( which I adored ), so yeah... Great week.
The weekend was rougher. My mother's husband had a hart attack (or something similar). He's still alive, don't seems to have too many sequels. But as I'm writing these words, he's on his 5th day at the hospital, still waiting for some tests so that they can find what is wrong exactly and probably operate on him (it's a 3 day weekend here in Canada, so thing are slowed down at the moment). I'm not too worried since he's been there 5 days: if he had been in immediate danger, it would have been over by now. But it still is worrying.
We didn't always get along. I use to hate him. He's uneducated, I'm a bit on the spectrum and always had difficulty hiding my distain of what I see as stupidity. He's more of a right wing guy. I'm definitely a progressive. He loves cars and pick-ups, I just don't understand car culture... It took us years to learn how to navigate around each others. For a while, the only subject we had that didn't ended up in fights was talking about fishing. I don't fish... at all, but he does, he is damn good at it (it's scary, I saw him take out fishes after fishes while his friend next to him couldn't get a single one out.) and he makes his own bait. I, as a crafter, liked talking about material, and making off techniques. I could see his baits as work of art. With that single subject in common, we managed to craft a friendship and theses day I truly love him as a member of my family. I am glad that he is still with us today.
On a brighter note, I started watching "Alias". I don't know why it took me 22 years to give it a shot, but I'm LOVING what I'm seeing. I always knew that it existed and knew the basic premice (hot girl (it's basically a plot point), though she was working for the CIA, tuned out she's working for a rogue agency so she become a double agent) but nothing else. I hope it holds up after the first season. It's a J.J. Abrams thing, so you never know when the team might lose the plot. (looking at you "Lost")
Anyways...
This week
As written, I still have 4 pages to lay out, but thing can always change. I REALLY wants to lay out everything upfront this time. Whenever I do that, the rest of the comic go so much easier for me. The layout is really where most of the thinking is done. After that I have an easier time with the art. And colors, I can put my brain in automatic to do that :P still need energy, but not much creativity at this point (I don't mean that as a dig at colorist. It's not an easy job. I'm just referring to my personal process.).
So yeah. I should complete the lay out in a day or two. After that, I'll decide if I move to backgrounds (I also need to design a tertiary character), or a single picture so I can deliver something this week.
That's it for now.
See you guys soon!
