I had accepted the latest commission without reading the description first and didn't realize I was to go back in Hogwarts for that one. You guys know I strongly disagree with JKR and her stance on trans people. I had stayed away from her universe ever since (whit 1 exception when I drew the beautiful NakedSunFlower as a school student). So, as soon as the money is on my bank account, I'm going to give it to as LGBTQ+ charity.

DONE! Here's the receipt

EDIT: I've reworded this text slightly for something I'm a bit more comfortable with in eingseight.

As I answerd below: This post was not meant as a grand political gesture for myself. I was trying to stay consequent with a past post, and the fact that in the last 3 or 4 years, I turned down a few HP related commissions for the same reason. So I felt it was important for me to explain why and how this one came to be, what I did with the money as a consequence, and post the proof of it here for accountability.

But I might have miss judged how many people knew about this old post that is not even longer on this site since the picture it was attached to wasn't within the guideline of patreon.

I honestly wasn't expecting so many reactions. It was getting overwhelming.
And I thank all of you for having remained civil about it. Despite some clear disagreements.

Regardless of how you feel about JK Rowling, it shouldn’t stop you drawing Hermione, Luna, Ginny, etc.

alxr34

I don't want to. JKR took away all the interest I had playing in that sandbox.

kupo

I respect and agree with your choice, although something occurred to me. Given her views, the last thing JKR would probably want is for more futa and gender bend art of HP characters to exist. Future commissions of these with some/all of the profits going to that charity might be a good way to both rekindle your love of HP art and support the community. Just a thought. 😏

Elendur

Have you read JK Rowling's views, or someone else's description of them? Because in my experience the two are radically different.

JCK

I hate politics, not why I come here.

Dinoguy99

Saying that you don’t like a creator bc they are transphobic and that you don’t wanna support their work isn’t political

Dubsington

That's actually precisely what it is. You're disagreeing on a policy. You might consider the *basis* for your belief to be moral, but it's still politics.

Dubsington

Good on you for donating money to something you believe in, but not sure why we all needed to be pinged to acknowledge it.

alxr34

this is an automatic feature of Patreon. I didn't think about disabling it for that post.

EddieBrock9043

Still though, all of us grew up with these characters. Other artists who don’t support JK still draw HP characters like Hermione and Luna.

alxr34

It's not like I do this all the time. While I do believe in the fact that just about everything is political in some ways, I do not feel the need to put mine out there every days. Still, I felt that this was important for me. I've been very open about my stance on JKR in the past... I was conflicted about having accepted a commission that was related to her. This was my solution, and I put the proof here because I believe in accountability. That said, if your not ok with earing me talk about my progressive views once in a while, I thank you for your support, but I might not be the creator for you. I'm not making political post all the time, but I am definitely not apolitical either

alxr34

Good for them. I will never take that away from anyone. I understand the love people still have for that universe. I still remember the love I had for it and how important it was for me. This situation suck. but as I said... for me personally, I can't just keep playing in that sandbox without feeling dirty. So I don't.

Kobold Lad

Nice stuff bud, stick up for what you believe in.

Mark B

While I don't think it's necessary, I totally respect your choice. Especially if her behaviour has put you off that universe.

alxr34

hahaha I'll be honest, That though has crossed my mind once of twice : P Maybe, someday, I won't feel as bad anymore about all of this and will go back to play in that sandbox. I never swore that I would never draw HP stuff anymore... and I haven't check the dates of all my pictures... I don't think I drew more than one ever since JKR's "manifesto", but I cannot guaranty it either. It's really about how I feel about this particular issue in these particular circumstances and at the moment, I have no interest for it.

Perversity

I just have to ask, what "deplorable" views does JKR have? Last I heard the only thing she'd said was. If you were born as a man, your a man. If you were born as a woman, then your a woman. Not going to put my views out there, but I am curious on why people hate on her so much lately.

alxr34

I am not going to enter in that discussion here. If you are curious about what she has said, there are plenty of people way better equip than I am that have already written long articles on the subject. or you can go read her "manifesto". She's a TERF, she's been doubling down for 4 years while playing the victim. Enough said.

Gerphil Denné

I like your art, I just never appreciate anything with politics in it. I can respect your opinion. Not a fan of harry potter myself but I still seperate the work from the politics of the author.

JCK

TERF seem like a negative pejorative. Another way of saying it is that JKR is a woman and is defending women.

alxr34

I wasn't even trying to be overly political. I was trying to stay consequent with a past posts, and the fact that in the last 3/4 years I turned down a few HP related commissions. so I felt it was important for me to explain why and how this one came to be and what I did with the money as a consequences. but I might have miss judge how many people knew about this old post that is not even longer on this site since the picture it was attached to wasn't within the guideline of patreon. I wasn't expecting so many reactions :P

alxr34

I don't deny that she is a feminist... but she is overtly trans exclusive. which is why I am so crossed with her. That said, and while I stand with what I said, I am not happy with how I answered this comment. It is a bit more provocative than I would like, and right after this is when I realized I had to make this post Patreon Only and take a little break, because I was staring to fell really defensive.. This post was not meant as a grand political gesture for myself. As I answered on another comment, I was trying to stay consequent with a past posts, and the fact that in the last 3/4 years, I turned down a few HP related commissions. so I felt it was important for me to explain why and how this one came to be, what I did with the money as a consequences and post the proof of it here. but I might have miss judge how many people knew about this old post that is not even longer on this site since the picture it was attached to wasn't within the guideline of patreon. I honestly wasn't expecting so many reaction. Even if you guys managed to stay quite civil about it, it was getting overwhelming.

Gerphil Denné

personally, i can only advice to stay away from politics. it does not benefit your artistry and, honestly, people enjoying your art have quite different thought processes;) not a fan of potter, since the books are dog shit in my personal opinion. i would rather see your starwars stuff concluded :)

alxr34

Don't worry, I'm not about to turn this page in a political new comantary channel. I understand that this page is about porn first and foremost. And not always the nice kind. I try to provide a safe way to deal with our kinks. ( well... my kinks mostly :P ) But that doesn't mean that I don't have political views and that I wont talk about from time to time. Mostly in my weekly updates. If you can't stand reading about my progressives view once in a while, I thank you for your support but I might not be the creator for you because, I might not be shouting my "wokeness" on the rooftops on a daily basis, I am definitely not apolitical eighter.

Pirate Robot Ninja

@JCK because she's not defending women. She's defending *some* women. Thus the "exclusionary" part of the acronym.

Pirate Robot Ninja

Art has always been political, but even still it shouldn’t be considered “political” to acknowledge that other people deserve rights and dignity. Good on you for sticking to your principles.
