Car Wash WIP (Patreon)

I know I said I wouldn't be showing that part but... Here's what I have so far.

I gotta say, I'm having a blast. Even if I had to resign myself to tracing "Lightning McQueen" because I just couldn't figure out his jelly beans forms. Luckily for me, the movie poster had the exact angle that I needed. The rest is referenced as usual, with as much pictures that I could found. As well as some 3D models. I started to use those with the "X-wings" in the latest comic.

The "Mystery Machine" is a toy that I have on my desk. That helped a lot. I just needed to take a picture at the right angle.

"Speed Buggy" seems a little big to me. But that will be an easy fix. Once I start adding human characters in there, the scale should be easier to figure out. I'll also probably have to fix a bunch of eyes alignments to make sure the characters are looking at something. I'm just improvising at the moment, knowing I'll have to go back to it.

Finally, Bumblebee is completely the wrong model. I found what I tough was a great reference by some artist I don't know. Naïvely, I though it was his design from the Gen 1 series and I started with it while playing with it loosely since I knew any screenshot from the series would be simplified to the extreme. Then I though about referencing how they did the legs joints in the animated series and realized my mistake. To my defense, he was the first thing I drew after the parking lot, and I was still unsure if I would try to use the look of the different franchises, or upgrade it... (In the end, I decided to a compromise between my own style and the original models. Staying close to the original design, but with enough of my own flair that they'll all fit in the same universe. ) So I was looser with the references at that moment.

I'm considering changing it, but I like the look of him here. Maybe, I'll just change the torso, to bring him back closer to his Gen 1 version.
