It's been a while since we had a new goal, hasn't it? We're hard at work on some new ideas, but we figured we'd put this one out there since, well, we're already quite close to it!

If we can hit 5,000 per month, we'll be able to afford to outfit the GVG crew with new gear to help make our videos that much better. That includes new capture cards for the next generation consoles, improved lighting and more.

We appreciate all your support so far, and we can't wait to show you the rest of what we're working on behind the scenes!

*sigh* Not to come across as rude, but seeing something with a finite cost as a stretch goal for a monthly contribution has always been something I've been bothered by creators doing. I have absolutley nothing against you guys reaching for higher heights, if you guys were asking for 5K/month (or 10K or even more) so you could all work on GVG full time, I'd be perfectly happy with that, but if you're going to ask for MONTHLY contributions, you should be offering monthly, or at least ongoing returns for that, even if that's just you guys being able to live more comfortably day to day. Equipment could be the first line of business, sure, but then what? You guys are still getting 5K a month after that, what is that money going towards? Are you going to be willing to use that for additional equipment or channel needs in the future? That's something I'd like to know. Because I don't want to see another goal later that says you want to get more equipment, but can't until you break 10K/month for all eternity. Obviously, that's an exaggeration, but you see what I'm getting at. At what point are you guys willing to fund needs/content with the money you're already making? I'm sure you all have the best of intentions, I just don't like the way this is being presented/proposed.

Hi Alan, I'm sorry you find this goal frustrating; it wasn't set with the intent to bilk or upset the community. We've been pretty transparent with what the setup, financially, is like at GVG. The end-goal is absolutely for all three of us to work full-time to create content, and in starting our priority was to make sure Derrick and his family were secure so we could create this channel. Now that we've managed to nail that down, we're working on addressing presentational issues, and equipment is certainly part of that, to say nothing of commissioning art assets, overlays, logos, transitions, stingers: the stuff that makes these shows look good. You asked at what point are we willing to fund "needs/content" with the money we're already making. That's the point of this goal, so we can work on building up the production values associated with the content we're creating. We have a roadmap for future goals, but we aren't yet ready to share those details yet. Rest assured "more equipment" isn't among them. We've projected what we need to make goals sustainable and that's why they're set where they are. I hope this helps clarify what our strategy is and why this goal exists. I'm sorry if this has caused you any grief, truly. If you have any more questions, please feel free to ask; I'll do my best to answer them. -Steve

Hey, Steve, thanks for the response. Anyway that works for me! If this is going towards equipment first and then "general channel expenses" like the ones you mentioned going forward, that fits within the realm of stuff I'm happy to support. I knew that money made after you guys bought your uhh "studio equipment" must've been planned to go somewhere."...and more" just sounded a bit vague, and didn't mention the stuff that you did just now that you guys have to pay for all the time. But, like I suspected, it seems things are being run well in the background. From the sound of it, it seems like priorities are: 1. Derrick's financial stability 2. Channel expenses 3? Bringing you and Ash on full time And this is just you guys working on step 2.

I'm glad I was able to help shed some light on what we're trying to do! You've pretty much nailed it with regard to our priorities. Of course, a simple goal of "bring everyone on full-time" isn't what we want to do, we'd rather continue to add value for contributions, so we've got some goals in mind that will give you more stuff to enjoy while we work toward that ultimate goal!
