Early Sketches of Jenny and Siv! (Patreon)

This month I worked on the story and character designs of the two main characters, Jenny the goat and Siv the dragon.
Jenny was designed first, and very quickly I knew what I wanted her to be. After I finished her design, the next day I was washing the dishes and then realised she needed glasses. They complete her look!
Siv's design changed a lot from a crocodile to a moose to a muskox, and then finally to a dragon. After deciding to go with a dragon, it took a while to decide how to make her feel. Her inspiration is the quiet baker husband in Kiki's delivery service, and so I wanted to make her feel like a gentle giant.  I like that her spikes make her feel tough, yet their rounded tips make her feel soft. I imagine she smooths all of her spikes herself so she doesn't accidentally hurt anyone!
