I'm not really into the "torture porn" movies either. I've watched videos where people talked about them, and the vast majority sound like they would be a waste of time to watch. But I have to recommend one movie that if often put into that category because I think it is a great movie, and that's Martyrs. Yes, it's intense for sure. But it's not violence for violence's sake. It's integral to the story. And as for Gladiator, well, it's simply unacceptable that Autumn calls herself a film student and hasn't seen it. FFS, it's a Ridley Scott movie; it's an instant classic. Just make sure to see the extended version, and of course watch it in 4K. Oh, and the soundtrack is utterly spectacular too.
