Appreciate all the info on what goes into a through hike, Krista presented it really well! Also nice editing! It seems like this would be good content, not only for patreon, but if there is something like a level1RL channel.. is there such a thing? 🤔. Although considering this involves touching grass maybe level3RL

It’s rather strange to think about all of the pooping etc. Here, if you want to go hiking, you’re never far from a pub, so food and shelter are a given. No snakes to speak of, I think we have adders somewhere but you have to go looking for them, no bears except in a zoo, just rain and wind. It would be rather nice to see a bit of real America from your point of view.

Very cool video! Thanks for sharing your experiences. I used to hike a lot around the Buffalo River in Arkansas, but I've felt too busy (and old) in the last few years. Seeing this has kindled that need to go again. Thank you!

Hammocks make it easier for the old and the terminally online (me lol) to get out there! Recommend it for good sleeps outdoors.

Krista you mention two achy foot issues -- calluses that cause blisters & tired arches. I wonder if you'd benefit from a podiatrist pedicure before your next long hike? I'm a newbie nail tech, and the podiatry pedicures I've seen on youtube are like 500000x more thorough than mine could ever safely be for probably around the same price, plus they can recommend the right arch support for your feet! (and evaluate gait + prescribe PT, for even more pain-free walking lol) Thanks for sharing your trail experience! I've wanted to try this for so long and been way too scared to try, but this makes me feel brave enough to at least put my toe in the water!

I definitely think next time I'll get a pedicure before I head out. I'd never had any issues with blisters before while hiking, so I didn't think it would be a big problem on the Foothills (and to be fair, it wasn't too bad pain-wise, just annoying to keep bandaged). Morgan and I both wanted arch supports though-- downside of using a zero drop shoe, maybe? You should definitely try backpacking if you get the chance! I started with the local trail association near me (Sheltowee Trace), a lot of them will do "beginner" trips where you can borrow gear to test out. It's a nice low pressure way to see if you like it + you can make some friends along the way.

We referred to Motrin as candy in the Army. "My legs off." "Drink water. Change your socks. Take this 800mg motrin." I've done a lot laundry in a trash bag. It has been a long time since I have gone into the woods for fun.
