To be fair the security of a public blockchain technology is pretty important for financial markets. It would prevent money laundering and parallel transactions. A prime example is transactions through Deutsche Bank Russia that led to a ton of money passing through the system. Also cash and asset breaks (i.e. the cash I delivered for receipt of stock) is possible to be in the hundreds of millions/billions depending on the size of the bank.
