This was shot a while back but the AGESA 1.0.0.3 ABB has been a long time coming.
Things are a bit weird, still, for AMD. AGESA 1.0.02 (generally) offers better boost performance, but this AGESA lacks a lot of features. 1.0.03 ABB has the potential to run well (not too much voltage/heat, especially for the 3700x). However Gigabyte has been really on top of things this generation -- keeping up with updates, and providing lots of community feedback.
Be sure to check out the "perfect setup" thread on the forum if you get one of these boards and want to sanity check.
In testing, it was weird, some AGESA versions performed the same as others, but the CPU ran much much hotter. I am still waiting for the dust to settle.
The 1.0.0.3 ABB is not universally available yet, either. The Asus CH8 just got an update a bit ago and Asus has been notably behind the other mobo vendors delivering updates for their boards. I am not sure what to make of it all yet.
This 1.0.0.3 ABB update also resolves Linux issues -- look for a separate video on that soon on the Linux channel.
