Hello patrons! We've decided to try out a new change for the Q+A this month. Our Q+A livestream will be available to ALL tiers. Questions can be posted prior to the stream here in the comments.

Along with this change, Our 19+ donors will be able to talk with us in Discord to ask questions live in voice chat.

We will be hosting the Q+A on Wednesday, July 5 at 7:30pm EST. The youtube link will be posted here prior to the stream. We look forward to seeing everyone there! :)

Nice :D q to Ryan: You seem like you are a libertarian on social issues. I wonder where you are located on economic issues, since you are in favour of regulating isp's (net neutrality etc.)

Hi L1, did you mean July or is this an old post?

Q: With all these governments talking about weakening encryption. What would the future look like if there were laws when there is open source , linux and good encryption. Could they attempt to ban us normal people from open source software ?

Marten

The post was created July 3 so strong bet it is July 5.

Q: Could more free form linux content be created that requires less editing? Id love to hear you guys ramble on about some tools you use or just general knowledge. The current PF sense stuff is great, but that bash tutorial you put out a while ago was life changing :P

I just wan to say thank you !

Good idea to let all patrons in. Q: I haven't been able to find good videos on junior Linux computing. Setting up a cheap but good enough Linux tablet with full support and adjusting the distro for a small child. This may have been an omission on my part (not finding any tutorials on this), but this could be an interesting topic - not only about installing Linux on a tablet, but also a child-friendly distro.

Q: Wendell - Why haven't you set up Alexa (or other voice assistant) to answer to the word "computer"? If you have, can you demo it? If it's coming soon, I'd love to see details on how to secure voice-activated systems and/or Internet of Shit properly.

Q: is there a chance that level1tech will cover, or got to, a europian event or convention?

Hopefully we (I?) can watch it back since that would mean 1:30 AM local time (central Europe) :) Q: Would you be considering Linux laptop recommendations if it is ever possible to test enough models? For example, some Dell machines (that ship with Linux) are clearly properly supported, but I have encountered other systems for which Linux support took some time. In general the major features work (graphics, USB, network) although some specific chips (and in the case of laptops things like brightness controls) do cause issues sometimes. At one point I waited a year before I could change the brightness on my HP laptop.

I support you guys on Patreon for the Linux content and Level1 News. The IOMMU piece, pfSense router and interview with Alan Jude were all fantastic! Q: Given that the Linux content doesn't get as many views on YouTube as the hardware videos, do you think you will focus more or less attention on Linux-based content in the near future? How much do YouTube views weigh on what content you decide to produce?

Q: Would you consider a special occasion live-stream (or video) of the three of you playing Dwarf Fortress? I think your reactions to your dwarves being melted and eaten by FUN! things would be hilarious.
