I have a quick response to the recent comments by Executive Director of D&D, Kyle Brink, on race in the gaming community.

Can't we all just be gamers?

That has got to be one of the most Racist and Sexist videos I have ever seen. Seriously, just swap out a gender and/or race for what they are lamenting. If it sounds racist for the substitution, then it is for ANYONE. Just one more reason I will not buy anything new from WoTC or Hasbro or EVER play a non-TSR created version. I am just fine playing 2e and ignoring these fools.

I think Kyle just poorly worded what he meant by "guys like him can't leave fast enough" after watching the whole video (and I find videos like that little better than a waste of time when I could be focusing on bettering my game). But the future of D&D is a concern and I try to stay informed on its direction. Seems to me his intent was that many other categories of people play the game now, and he would like to see that reflected in those who create the game more than it is currently. Not necessarily that "the white guys in the basement" need to move on. I agree whole-heartedly that we should all just be gamers. The bickering, catering, and finger-pointing is tiresome. And weakens the game by taking the focus from improving it with great content (made by whomever has proven themselves a talented creator), and directing the focus at making sure nobody can find the minutest detail offensive. Weakens the game, makes for boring content.

Here, in Western Europe (Germany, France, Belgium, Spain, UK or Italy), as far as I know, this kind of talk does not appear in the field of role-playing games. At least, from what I see. I have my own idea as to why it's not like yours. But I cannot claim to be a specialist who carries the good word and the truth. In the end, I think Jo is right in saying "We are all gamers".

Screw that dude. He is a great example of what is wrong with this world. He does not represent me as a gamer.
