Here is the second process video! This one is for my ‘blobs’ painting. Unfortunately I wasn’t able to record the full process of this one due to a computer crash, but most of the process is there - hopefully you’ll still find it helpful!

Some things to keep in mind while watching this video:

OLDER THUMBNAIL

This process video starts with a thumbnail that I painted quite a while ago - in July 2023, to be exact! I felt like I had gotten into the flow of rendering with the soft brush after the statue studies, and wanted to try out this approach on a rough painting that I already had lying around so I could get right into it. That’s why the process starts with a workflow that just involves lasso and gradients, and then switches to the hard round brush later. The painting session from this month starts at the 7:42 minute mark in this video. I wanted to bring this up because this is a typical example of me creating thumbnails and then setting them aside to render at a later point! This is something I talk about a lot in my tutorial on using your creative spark to generate ideas - https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-using-65162895 - so definitely check that out if you want to know more about this approach.

SHAPES

This painting is really all about shapes - just the joy of creating them and carrying the shape language through to the rest of the painting. They don’t make any sense on a rational level but they are just satisfying to draw on an intuitive level. It kind of has the same effect on me as watching slime videos or satisfying compilations on tiktok! If you want to know more about shapes, I really recommend checking out my tutorial on creating interesting & flowy shapes - https://www.patreon.com/posts/tutorial-flowy-64260217. I talk a lot about how you can find shapes that really connect with your way of drawing and carry them out on every level of your drawing process, from first sketch to rendering and painting. I think this painting is a strong example of the principles I explain in that video!

I hope you liked these videos and that they gave you some insights into my creative process! Have a wonderful weekend everyone ❤

Think I'll work alongside this Process for practice. Thanks Lo 🩶

It’s so insightful to watch your creative process, thanks for letting us take a look into your thinking and art making. I always had an unrealistic expectation to do things right and correct from the get go, but I learnt from these video once again that trying out things and seeing if they work/ don’t work is a valid path.

Thanks so much Alexandra! I definitely recommend just going with the flow. It leads to less disappointment and frustration during the drawing process!
