This has been the busiest month of the year for me. There was so much stuff going on! I went to an art event, had friends and family visiting, and of course I started up my Patreon again after a break. I guess that explains why it flew by so fast! (Or should I say: Flu by? Read on for more context on that one.) Next month is a lot calmer, so I'm looking forward to spending more time hanging out on my couch and drawing.

Here's a little review of how October went for me:

FLU SEASON

I was sick so often this month! First I got sick at the beginning of the month and almost missed Playgrounds In Motion Rotterdam, but fortunately I got better just in time for my demo. Sadly I was not so lucky later in the month and came down with a brutal flu just 3 days before my flight to LA. I tried to move the flight dates around and salvage the trip, but as the date came closer, I had to face the fact that I was just too sick to fly, even if I left a few days later than planned. I just knew that an intercontinental flight and jet lag would probably make me sicker, and I also heard one too many horror stories about flying with congestion. Believe me when I tell you I was absolutely devastated! I spent all day in bed and had a long cry about it. But now I have to let it go and shift my focus to future events. Hopefully next year will be better. I hope everyone who went had an amazing time!

JACK O’ LANTERN

Since I was at home with nothing to do, I decided to carve a pumpkin for Halloween. He turned out a bit scary, but that was the goal! What do you think?

ARM RECOVERY

My arm is doing a lot better than a few months ago, and I’m really happy to be painting and making videos again after my break in September! However, I’m still in the process of recovering from my repetitive strain injury. I’m not as productive as I would like to be, and you may have noticed that I created less art than I usually do. I’m trying to find a balance in which I give myself time to draw without overexerting my arm, which currently means that I am taking more time off between drawings. I found that drawing is quite manageable as long as I get enough rest between drawing sessions, and the amount of rest I need is getting shorter and shorter over time. So because of that, I’m super optimistic about the coming months, but also aware of the fact that I still have a limited output right now. I hope you understand and can bear with me! My highest priority is making sure that patrons get all of the video content that they signed up for, like the tutorial and the challenge resource. And that has proven to be manageable and super enjoyable to create! So I hope you’ll stick around for next month ❤

As always, thanks so much for your support! I'll be sending out links to this month's google drive folder today. If you have any feedback or questions, please feel free to share them with me through a direct message or e-mail to loishh@gmail.com. Any and all feedback is welcome! I hope you’ll continue to be my patron next month! ❤

Cori and I missed you so much at Lightbox! (And so many others did too I'm sure) But you were definitely there in spirit <3 There's always next year, I'm making it a point to go every year now, it's just so great to hang out with everyone.

>My highest priority is making sure that patrons get all of the video content that they signed up for, like the tutorial and the challenge resource. And that has proven to be manageable and super enjoyable to create! No, your highest priority should be to recover. no need to put up unhealthy production goal. I genuinely think most of us will stay anyway. Challenging yourself is good, but only if everything else is working properly ;)

Thank you! That’s definitely true, although I think the main thing for me is making sure that I know what kind of creative work to prioritize if I have to take it a bit more slowly. I’m lucky enough to be able to do some work!
