I'm glad it's over because it was nothing but cold and rain this year! And wind, so much wind. As someone who cycles to work, I have a problem with this. Hopefully April will bring some sunshine and warmth, because I am craving it more than ever!

Here's a little review of how this month has gone for me:

PAINT-OVERS

I’m always kind of apprehensive about the idea of doing paint-overs since I don’t want to disrespect anyone’s art, but I’ve gotten a lot of requests to make a face tutorial lately from patrons who have really specific struggles with drawing faces. So I asked my patrons to email me examples of faces that they’re unhappy with and which I can paint over! I got some really great and interesting submissions! I’ll be basing my next tutorial around these specific issues and hopefully create a helpful resource from that. I’m really excited to try this new format! Maybe it’ll be a good one to try again for future tutorials around other topics as well.

ORANGE PHASE

When I look at the art I made in the last month, it looks like I am officially in my orange phase! But specifically kind of rusty, deep orange/brown tones. I’m kind of obsessed with it right now because for me it conveys warmth, authenticity, and a kind of tactile, organic feeling. Sometimes my love for a certain color keeps me motivated to create. Do you ever have that? What’s your favorite color to use right now?
