Hey flame patrons! Here is this month’s Q&A session recording, which turned out to be a whopping 2.5 hours long! I had such a good time though! This time I figured out a way to make the question I'm addressing show while I'm talking, so hopefully that will make it easier to follow and navigate through!

Topics covered in this session are:

  • Decision-making in the creative process
  • Overcoming or preventing injuries from drawing
  • Career: pricing commissions, finding work in concept art, selling at conventions, deadlines
  • How to continue your learning process when you feel stuck in a rut or you don’t know how to move forward
  • What amount of time investment is necessary for artistic growth
  • Talent: whether it exists, and the role of ‘working hard’ in order to attain skills
  • My approach on: my signature, my website, posting high-res versions o fmy art
  • How to get back into drawing after a long break
  • Playgrounds: what kind of event is it, what will I be doing there

For the next session, feel free to drop any questions you might have into the #ask-loish channel on discord, or post it below - I'll go through them and try to answer as many of them as I can during next month's Q&A session! Thanks to everyone who joined in the chat ❤

2023-03-05 22:56:27 I missed the live version of the q&a but this was so fun ( and informative) to watch. I love your rants 🤣 It’s nice to see that behind the art we all love is such a fun person. The bit about Americans being friendly and Dutch ppl not so much really cracked me up. I’ve been living in the Netherlands for years now and that is what I was always thinking: how are the Dutch ppl always sooo friendly ( and direct yes) comparing to my home country😅 So I guess there are many perceptions of this. Thank you for sharing!

2023-04-12 05:14:53 loved this Q&A Loish! thank you for sharing all these insights! and also for telling others not to overwork themselves! Sometimes I hear pro artsits telling beginners to put tons of hours into art and lately I've seen many young ppl (some even under 20) getting severly and suffering from more aches and pains than my grandma :o

I'm glad you liked it! and yes, that happens a lot. I know artists who get regular epidurals to deal with nerve pain from bad posture and overworking. it's not sustainable or worth it!
