Next month I’m going on vacation to the Alps. This is always something I look forward to because I live in a super flat area of Europe, and I just crave being around mountains sometimes. It gives that feeling of being small and surrounded by majestic landscapes! I had to draw some mountains in anticipation of the trip. These are based on photos I took on a trip to Canada back in 2014.

Ohhhh they're amazing! I love the one with the cars, it makes me think of concept art for animated films hehe. And I agree with the craving for mountains - I went hiking in Norway a few years ago and it just made all my worries feel so small, so silly, so perfectly insignificant. It was such an awesome feeling.

We're actually in the middle of deciding if we're going to move to the Netherlands or not, and my West Coast US self is a bit hung up on there being no mountains. But if I could get a mountain fix a couple times a year... I can see my soul being ok. There were a lot of things I loved about the Netherlands on my recent trip, the top one being how easy it is to walk everywhere. :)

netherlands is indeed convenient for walking and cycling! and it's not far from some beautiful mountains. there's the ardennes in belgium and of course the alps which are easily driving distance!

If you feel comfortable answering, I am wondering if you own your own car or if you rent one when you travel. We're trying to break down a budget as we consider the move. We drove an electric car for the first time ever on our trip to the Netherlands, and it was SUCH a good experience. But I also don't see an electric car being the best tool to get to the Alps, and that is definitely one of my personal goals if we make the move. :)
