I recently drove home after the rain had stopped and the road was still wet and reflecting the sunset as well as the stoplights. It was such a beautiful sight! I took a photo and made a study of that moment, to practice capturing reflections and also some perspective / buildings. You can see the original ref as well as an early version of the painting. Really enjoyed this one! I’ll put together a process video for it since I recorded the full drawing process, but for now, hope you enjoy this speedpaint!

Love how you drew the reflections on the ground. Can't wait to see the process video 😍

Again, I really extra-enjoy your still life/architectural drawings. The sense of color and shape that you bring to it is just lovely. And "Wet Asphalt" would be a great band name. Just saying. ;-) Thanks, Loish!

Wow! The light bouncing off of the windows is just — 🥰 AMAZING 🙈!! I love seeing the big, stamp-like brush texture used so well. Such a great choice and I’m feeling so inspired

The reflections in the windows are impressive! I'm interested to see what brushes you used

Squinting at this trying to determine what order you laid down the various layers of the ground to create that reflective quality. Still mind-boggled haha!

I adore how moody and atmospheric this looks. Looking closer I can see how you've broken down the image into shapes and rendered them. It's real eye candy for me ✨✨✨

Just wondering.. Do you have your photo camera in reaching distance in the car for moments like these? Usually my mobile phone is in a handsfree bracket and I wouldn't be able to take it out while driving. I understand you took this photo while standig still, but sometimes I see some dynamic lighting in the landscape that I really would like to capture, but I can't... Just a few weeks ago there were some superb autumn views, due to the changeable weather in the Netherlands, with streaks of sun and very dark backgrounds, also some mist here and there, I was very much entertained while driving because I saw some new colors every minute, and very dramatic contrasts, but now I'm really dissapointed I don't have footage to draw from.. Am looking for landscape photos of the Netherlands now, but it's kind of hard to find exactly what I saw. Just wondered if you maybe have your camera 'in de aanslag' so to say...

hey julia! i get that feeling, sometimes taking a pic yourself is the only way to capture it! I stood still for this photo and made sure no one was behind me. but if i'm in a moving car the only option is really to stop and get out to take the photo, or be in the passenger's seat. I always take pics like these with my phone (i actually switched from android to iphone purely so i could have the better camera for things like this)!

Maybe I should be more aware of taking pictures while my boyfriend is driving haha, thing to remember for next autumn season XD
