Hey guys! If you missed the Lightbox Expo talk that me and Iris Compiet did together, it's now online :) You can also watch it over on YouTube. It's about all the lessons we learned from launching kickstarter campaigns and patreon pages to fund our personal projects. Hope you enjoy!

This was a fantastic watch! I really appreciated you both talking about your art journeys - I did animation at Uni (10 years ago now) and I think that put me off pursuing art as a career... in fact I've only just started drawing again now! Glad I'm not the only one that struggles with "just wanting to draw". Taking the time now to just enjoy the process and not worry about the outcomes (a pretty picture is a bonus of course)

Being in this patreon... makes me "breathe" that fresh air... that my lungs has been searching for since a kid. I know it because I'm surrounded by talented artists here and I know you know what my struggles are even though you don't know me personally. I love this! Thank you for this!!! and I regret not being a patreon sooner

I really enjoyed watching this talk and I can't believe I haven't seen Iris' work before now! I had to get her book, so of course I ordered it :) can't wait to back your new book! I already own 2 of your books. Thank you both for sharing your experience (the good and the bad) with us.

Thank you so much for this video! So practical and helpful. I loved seeing the workspace and sketches and hearing about your process. I just started going full time freelance and the schedule you shared was really helpful and affirming because I find myself doing the same thing. And, after running two successful KS campaigns, I absolutely agree with keeping it simple! My first had TONS of add-ons and it was just a nightmare to get it all together. My second, I just offered the books and it has been so much less stressful! Plus, with the KS I have supported, I ended up losing all the extras or they collect dust in my house because I really only care about the book or main content being offered. Great content as always. Thank you!

glad you enjoyed it! i feel like that's the lesson everyone learns when they do things like table at cons or crowdfund. sometimes it's better to just keep things simple!

Loish

It was so interesting and I love this kind of media. Thank you for sharing your personal experiences and for giving us so much informations and motivations in same time ! Love to see two different way of practicing and helping us to feel better about our own ways to practice our art, as you managed in your own ways … thank you again so much.
