An environment speedpaint! Thinking about sunny mornings on green balconies. I have a backyard now but balconies were my only ‘outside area’ for the last 10 years. I love how cosy and private they can be.

Gorgeous. I just love the way you tackle plants. This has me dreaming of being on holiday somewhere in southern Europe. Ireland is so cold and miserable right now. 😅

I definitely need to learn to simplify plants like that! This is beautiful

Loish, Your work is simply breathtaking! I also wanted to say, the video you recorded last month for us patrons was so inspiring, felt from the heart(as always), could have been a university lecture as well. What I am trying to say is that, it was really informative, and I can tell how much you care about helping us navigate and develop skills, within this chaotic world, you are truly a beacon of light!

Hi Loish! I'm very happy to be here learning with you and your community. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with all of us <3

Loish

How did you learn to use such natural colors? It really feels like I am standing there! I guess the answer is: a lot of studies, right?

Loish

yes! i use a lot of reference photos. I try to use reference photos that aren't professional pics, but just snapshots people take casually. they tend to have a more realistic look with more interesting light/shadow!

This is actually a good point. Professional photos are adjusted to look better but normal photos without any editing are showing how the world really looks like. I will try to take some environmental photos and try to make studies with them. Thank you!

I get so enthusiastic when you broaden your images beyond the usual! Great sense of place and light. Tells so many stories. Just one "picky" thing that you may want to consider as you finish. The figure (you?) has a "ski slope" nose, partly because of the white halo behind her. Do you mind observations like this? As a painter, I find others' views useful at times (or ignore them) :-)

Loish

thanks greg! I'm always open to feedback. it helps me understand what others see when they look at my art!
