You guys might recognize this one! It’s the pink fish drawing from my painting & rendering tutorial in procreate. You can watch the process of creating the original sketch here, and the process of painting & rendering it here!

There were some things that were bugging me about the way the painting looked at the end of that tutorial, so I gave it a complete overhaul and turned it into something really different. I think the main thing that was bugging me was that it was a very smooth and soft drawing. It was missing some chunkiness and edginess that I’ve been gravitating towards in my art lately. I’ve also been feeling really drawn towards red, rather than pink, so I ended up moving more in that direction as well. I’ve just been craving more angular shapes and intense colors.

I think the evolution of this painting shows you guys how I analyze my own style and try to push my work in new directions based on what I “feel like” at that time in my artistic development! Sometimes I want more softness, sometimes I want more roughness. Hope you like it, even though it’s so different from the tutorial version!

Amazing! Would love to see the process video if you could share it. Very interested to see the way you transitioned from the previous style this was to what it is now.

i do believe i recorded the full process for this one, so I can definitely make that :)

The original piece from the tutorial was so pretty, but you took the final version in such a wild and unexpected direction and I love it!

So beautiful! Did you finish it in procreate as well? Which tool did you use for blocking in highlight and shadows etc in the second to last progress picture?

Those fish are so cutee!! I love how you rendered them

I finished it in photoshop! And for those highlights/shadows I used mostly the lasso tool :)

Hi / that was a great tutorials ♥️/ can you please do more of these procreate tutorials?\ i think most beginners prefer it over photoshop .and can you please mention the name of every brush in the video? / because somtimes I can’t tell which one are u using / i’v been trying to learn digital painting for 3 years now but i end up with muddy mess and the amount of tools and color is so intimidating so i. End up giving up/ dose it get any easier?😂/ also why don’t u use a paper like screen protector on the ipad ther are so amazing and I highly recommend them♥️

Loish

thank you! I'm actually putting together a procreate tutorial at this moment, so hopefully you will like that! as for screen protectors, they just don't work for me. i guess i'm accustomed to drawing on a smooth surface.
