Even though it was objectively the worst year I’ve ever had (thanks, pandemic), it was so fulfilling creatively. This is because of your support!! This patreon made it possible for me to commit time into my personal work, and gave me the headspace that I needed to try new things. Here’s some of the things that you made possible:

EXPANDING MY COMFORT ZONE

Before I had this patreon, I felt like I didn’t have the time to try new things. I didn’t even have time to think about trying new things. I always felt rushed because of all the client work I had to do, and when I did have time to make personal art, I went back into my comfort zone. This year, I had much more room to experiment and indulge in my artistic curiosity. When I felt like drawing rocks, I drew rocks. When I felt like studying plants and waves, I tried it out and made some sketches. This month, I decided to tackle drawing interiors. You guys made it possible for me to learn, and it’s been so fun and fulfilling!

SHARING KNOWLEDGE

I usually give workshops, but the pandemic resulted in all of them being cancelled. The timing was weirdly perfect, though, because I got to channel that energy into the tutorials I made for you guys. It was the first time I made tutorials that have a looser format: basically just me talking about a certain topic and demonstrating the process while I talk. It feels so much more authentic and genuine, and it’s honestly really fun to make. I learned a lot about making videos and my workflow for creating them is a lot smoother now. I would never have taken that step without this patreon!

COMMUNITY

The thing I love most about this patreon is the little community it’s become. I love finishing a piece and sharing it with you guys first. I love getting your feedback on which WIP to finish, or which thumbnail to finalize. Your feedback has motivated me and helped me when I was unsure of how to move forward! Seeing your comments, replies and feedback is so inspiring and always puts a smile on my face. It means so much to me that you guys are here!

I’ll be continuing my patreon in this format for the coming year, and continuing to make monthly videos, behind-the-scenes content and art! I’ll also be working on my third artbook, and giving you guys some early glimpses into that content. I’m thinking of a few ways to expand the patreon tiers and add some more goodies in the future, but 2021 is going to be really busy for me so I can’t make any huge time-consuming changes just yet. I am always thinking ahead though, so if you have any ideas for new content you’d like to see here, just drop a comment below! I am always open to suggestions!
