Hey everyone, here’s a quick video talking you through my process for speedpainting environments in Procreate! Last month’s environment speedpainting tutorial was more about my Photoshop process, so I wanted to quickly discuss how I create similar art on the iPad. It’s more or less the same process, except I do more with the brush and less with the lasso tool! I hope it's helpful and as always, feel free to ask any questions you might have after watching it!

Brush packs I used:

• RazumInc pro II: http://cbr.sh/ai2y9?ref=loish

• Maxpacks Gouache: https://gumroad.com/l/GouacheMaxPack

Thank you so much for this, I love to do these paintarly landscapes, I find them really relaxing, so it's great to see your input in it! :) Great tips as always!

Thank you for this helpful tutorial as always Loish ❤️❤️❤️

YOU’RE A DARLING FOR MAKING THIS! I’m sending of my Wacom computer today for repairs and will be iPad only for about a month and I’ve been struggling so much with trying to do environments on it. This came at the perfect time!

Ha, great timing - I am focusing on environment studies this week, using procreate :) Thank you! Do you ever do value studies instead of jumping directly into color?

Thank you for this amazing video! About how much time do you spend on these speedpaint environments?

So lovely! I’ve noticed that procreate doesn’t like to merge layers with multiply, screen, color dodge etc., without completely changing the look of the piece. To work around this, do you just keep a bunch of layers open without merging them?

This was so helpful! Thank you so much for creating this!

This came right on time because I want to draw a scene that I had in a recent dream and I was having so much trouble with the landscape lol. Thank you!

I might have missed it in one of your other videos, but which color profile do you use for your canvases in procreate?

I have the maxpacks brushset, but i really like how you’ve customized it, could you share your settings for them?

Hey, do you mind telling which iPad do use? I've been looking for a digital art medium for a while, and since I would have a ton of use for iPad otherwise as well, am thinking of getting an iPad, but am unsure which one I should get, so knowing which one you use could be helpful to know if you don't mind :) I'm sure the info is somewhere, I just can't find it XD

Loish

i use an ipad pro that i got in 2018! not sure if there's a new version by now. it's the one with the pen that you charge by clicking it onto the side!

Thanks for letting me know! Yeah I'm basically debating between the newest Pro or the Air, as I'm not sure I NEED the Pro and the price difference might be crucial :'D

Thanks so much for doing one focused on Procreate. I've watched this and your main environment tutorial. There's just one more question I still have. You use gradients a lot in the Photoshop example, to blend blocks into their setting better. Like you did with the clouds. What is the equivalent to that in Procreate? I end up always just blending colours together, and I'm not sure if that's wrong.

Loish

procreate has really good brush responsiveness, so just getting a soft brush and gently blending is a great option in procreate :)

Thanks! I love Procreate so much, so I'm glad I can keep approaching it that way.

What size iPad do you have? I have the smaller one and feel like it is hard to draw with. If you are able to do all this on yours...is it the 12.5 inch one? before I rebuy one or if you can do this all maybe I will keep slugging through and coming up with a process...

You spoke about the razzam pro brush. And used two on the 2nd paint. What are the two brushes you love from that set?

Loish

mainly the bumpo brush (it's sort of a creamy, blendy type of brush) and a shader that has one hard and one soft edge! there's more info about the bumpo brush here: https://www.patreon.com/posts/step-by-step-i-34615265
