Some procreate doodles! I changed my focus to lineart and simple colors when using the iPad and procreate. If you’ve seen my digital painting process videos, you know that tweaking the colors and using shortcuts like feathered lasso are really essential to my painting process. I find these tools really difficult to use in procreate - the color editing tools don’t quite achieve the effect that I’m looking for and I don’t quite understand how the selection tool works there, so I’m focusing on creating simple lineart instead. It’s fun! Hope you like these simple character sketches!

The brush I used to draw the lines is the blobby pen from maxpacks comics set - https://www.maxpacks.art/comics-maxpack - and I used brushes from his gouache set to color in - https://www.maxpacks.art/gouachemaxpack. I’ll be uploading process videos for these soon!

Hope you guys are safe!

I was wondering how do you cope with the photoshop to procreate switch as I also use a lot of short cuts and gradients In PS but can't achieve a similar process in procreate!

Procreate is the only software I’ve ever used and I still have so much to learn. I’m slowly reading through the handbook. If you’re more of a visual learner, they have great tutorials on their IG. Have you tried using the selection feather tool?

Loish

i have! i just find it really distracting that the area outside of the selection gets some kind of overlay that makes it difficult to see. good tip, i should read the handbook too... i'm trying to wing it but i think i'm overlooking a lot of useful tools that way!

Loish

yep, that's exactly what i struggle with too! i do so much with gradients in photoshop. for now i'm just trying to find a different workflow in procreate, since it's unrealistic to expect it to be the same as photoshop.

Absolutly! I used the selection tool with a high feather but discovered it leaves behind strange patterns! But yes trying to also figure a different work flow for procreate!

There is a procreate course on schoolism . It may help you understand it better. I am taking it now and there were so many things i didn't know.

Noting that you can change the selection mask visibility under preferences. I have mine turned way down - it definitely was distracting!
