Here’s a quick vid of the painting process for demon girl! I also filmed a screencapture, but I feel like these kinds of videos can also be educational because then you guys can see how I move my hands. Hope you enjoy!

I love this video! Yes! They are so helpful! I think I have an idea of how not to get lost in shadows now. Thank you for sharing it in this format Lois!! Are you using a multiply brush by the way? It looks like the lines are not completely disappearing when you were painting in the shadows in the hair in the beginning

I love this image o____o

Really like the speed of these videos. Fast enough that I don't get bored but slow enough that I can still see what you're doing!

Mmm I wish I could see this on the go, but it isn't friendly to my internet bundle :S

Another lovely video! How do you avoid missing bits or getting confused when you work all over the image like that? I have to do everything one section at a time (either from one side of the image to the other, or more often, in 'themed' chunks like hair, skin, clothes, etc) or I end up forgetting/overlooking parts that I don't notice until a few days after I've posted it OTL any tips for that or does it just come naturally to you to work all over at random?

Loish

hmm, that's interesting! i think in my case, I don't mind it when certain areas are still rough. i zoom out a lot and observe to see which areas are bugging me, that's how i generally approach it!

Loish

thanks! glad you like it! i always feel tempted to make them really fast, but then I'm worried that no one can really see what I'm doing.

Loish

thanks so much! I'm just using a normal brush. but the pressure is also set to opacity, so if i'm not pressing too hard, the strokes are a bit lighter and blend more softly!

Awesome! thanks for sharing your process ;) Q: I see your left hand toggling, looks like you're switching between eraser and brush?

FaroreNightclaw

Sounds like a good approach. I struggle with adding focus to my paintings; I always end up wanting to detail every last inch, which is something I need to work on x.x

Aadishri Soni

how long does it take you to finish pieces like this. I always feel that i have to work fast to finsh my painting.

Loish

it depends! some pieces are more of a struggle than others. for a drawing like this.. between 4 and 8 hours to render and finalize!

Thanks for the video, at what angle do you recommend keeping your tablet ? Or do you think it's just a personal preference.

Loish

it totally depends on you! i always had to search for an angle that doesn't flare up my arm injury issues and this one works perfect, but my desk has to be at quite a low height. that's why i have a sit/stand desk with adjustable height! find out what works best for you but make sure your arm is always at a 90 degree angle or more, otherwise you'll be blocking blood flow to the lower arm.

TOBI

Do you use a single layer when rendering?

Loish

I usually do! in this case, i had the character separated from the background layer.

Thanks so much for all the knowledge you're putting out Loish! did you find working on the cintiq better compared to using like an intuos? also is it alright if we post the work we did following your tutorials here??

Loish

hey lloyd! thanks so much for your kind comment! I really do prefer working directly on a screen, so the cintiq has been great. I currently don't really have anything set up to share art with eachother, but I might figure something out later this year! sorry about that!

Hello, I want to truly thank you for all the great process videos and tutorials you share with us! There is only one thing I wanted to ask. Do you leave pressure sensitivity on for size on the round brush other than the opacity one? I have been having trouble controlling that as if I press lightly to not make the lines too dark then the size of the stroke ends up being too small. I do know about lowering the flow it's just I have a struggle controlling the brush I guess. But again thank you so much for all this recourses you provide!

Loish

thanks so much! the round brush has both pressure & opacity linked to pressure. but if it doesn't work for you then you can just switch it up in whatever way you prefer :)
