Here’s a little flipthrough video of some of my sketchbooks - it’s fast and I’m skipping a lot of pages, but hopefully it gives a good general idea of the different sketchbooks I have lying around here in my studio!

You guys have probably seen a lot of my digital art and some of my sketches, but I’ve never shown my full sketchbooks from beginning to end. As a way to give you guys a deeper look at my artistic process, I’ll be creating monthly sketchbook tours for my patrons. I’ll flip through the entire sketchbook and tell you more about my ideas, artistic process, and the stories behind the sketches. The first sketchbook tour will feature my sketchbook from 2012, and patrons can vote which sketchbook will be covered next. I’m so excited to share these sketchbooks with you!

Do you work in Moleskin books? I also find it really interesting you draw with red pencils, vs most I see draw with blue (for scanning?) Really inspiring works.

So great to see some behind the scenes. And sketches of pieces that I know already from finished version :)Any chance that you could maybe add some comments while flipping through? Like what inspired a specific sketch. Or what kind of sketching routine you have.

Loish

absolutely! i will be talking about the sketches and giving background info during the tour.

This is awesome! question, do you use photo reference for your poses or do you tend to make them up as you go? Also, where do you find ll your poses?

Loish

thank you! for some of them, I use photo reference. many of the pieces in this book are drawn from photo ref! usually from the deviantart stock photo section.

Thank you for sharing that. It is important to not be so precious with our sketchbook and be brave to explore new things is them, meaning that it will not be a perfect sketchbook.
